Steam ports
Steam multiplayer uses UDP 27000–27031 and TCP 27015–27030. Most home routers handle this automatically; manual forwarding is rarely needed unless UPnP is disabled.
PlayStation Network ports
PSN requires TCP 3478, 3479, 3480 and UDP 3478, 3479. Voice chat uses an additional TCP range 49152–65535. UPnP usually opens these automatically on consumer routers.
Xbox Live ports
Xbox Live requires UDP 3074 and TCP 3074. Voice chat uses TCP 49152–65535. Most gaming-oriented routers have Xbox presets.
NAT type troubleshooting
If you can join but the lobby disconnects randomly, your NAT is likely the cause. Enable UPnP on your router, or set a static IP for your console/PC and forward the platform's ports. 'Strict' or 'Symmetric' NAT is the usual culprit; aim for 'Open' or 'Moderate'.
Quick checklist
- Confirm UPnP is enabled on your router (most consumer routers ship with this on).
- If UPnP is disabled, forward the platform's port range to a static IP on your console or PC.
- Test your NAT type in the platform's network settings. 'Open' is the goal; 'Strict' is the problem.
- If you're still stuck, try the platform's connection troubleshooting tool before assuming the game is at fault.
